Summary
You find that you’ve traversed into a dungeon of sorts and the entrance you came from is now blocked off. It is now your mission to escape this place before you turn into a husk of your former self, crumbling into a fine dust or becoming mummified like delicious jerky. If things couldn’t be worse, you also entered this area right before lunch. So it’s also important to find things that could fill your lunchbox. Maybe it’s a sandwich? Maybe it’s a small baggie of O-shaped cereal. Whatever you find, try your best to find it all and escape!
Components
- 1x The Legend of Lunchbox Adventure (this will include the Location cards, Item cards, and Discovery cards)
- 1x player marker (a small cube works)
Game Setup
- Find the “Start” card from the Location cards. You can tell which one this is as it has the Story on the back as well as what it takes to 100% the Adventure.
- Place the “Start” card face up.
- Place your player marker on the “Start” square.
Special Thanks
Thank you to briand for your help QAing the game. I hit publish too soon, it seems!

Thanks for this. Just downloaded and looking at the rules. Are the rules just one side of one page?
Yep! Should be quite straight forward once you start playing. The only main difference is starting in Adventure 02 the letters don't match exactly as written (mainly because you can approach the same room from different directions).
If you ever get confused, match the room you're coming from with the little letter in the bottom corner.
Thanks.
What do the spike pits do in a room? Also, what are the 'bongo' type objects in the spiked pit rooms?
If you have the Jump Boots, you can jump over the spike pits.
If you have the Grappl'n Hook, you can shoot in a straight line (no diagonals) to that post (bongo) and reach that area.
Thanks.
Adventure 02 works just fine. I noticed that you changed the exit identifiers in 02 versus the others. In 00 and 01, the adjacent exits are lettered identically, so the two letters at each edge are identical. In 02, each letter corresponds to the next card in that direction, so the letters are different at each edge. That method looks a bit strange, but it makes more sense since the order in which the player explores the cards isn't forced like the first two quests.
The system reminds me of Mazescape, a series of puzzle games involving tracing a maze on a sheet that can be folded and unfolded while tracing.
Yeah, I realized that once I made Adventure 02. That's why there's a little letter on the bottom corner now so you can match. It does look kinda funky, admittedly.
I'll have to check out Mazescape! I wasn't aware of it and it looks very cool.
Are sets 00 and 01 impossible? In set 00 the grappling hook can't be found. In set 01 the grappling hook is found in the room with many spike pits, but the pits can't be crossed without already having the grappling hook. The jump shoes are similarly unreachable without already having them.
Thanks for pointing this out! The error is actually with how the backs match up for the Discoveries and Items. Right now it's matching Item 01 (Jump Boots) as Discovery 02 and Item 02 (Grappl'n Hook) as Discovery 03. This makes solving it impossible, as you said. I'm going to fix that right now.
They should really fire the quality control person on this game!
Thanks for the correction. I think there may still be an error on the back of page two. Swap the items in the top corners (so 1? will be on the back of the Shenbot statue and [1] will be on the back of the jump shoes), then everything makes sense.
You're absolutely right. Updated again. Thanks for your help!
This is an impossible game. The space to claim the grappling hook is on the other side of a fire pit on Adventures 00 and 01. Adventure 00 allows you to turn over the Shenbot Card, and you can't jump the fire pits to get to C or the end of C because you don't have the boots. Adventure 1 uncovers the Shenbot on Card C and the Music Box on Card D. The Grap'l Hook and Jump Shoes are on the far side of fire pits and cannot be accessed unless you have the Grap'l Hook or Jump Shoes.
Also, where are the monsters and the fight/eat functions?
Game has potential if only one could play it.
